Falmouth CU Awarded Gold Accreditation by Students’ Union
Falmouth University Students’ Union (SU) has formally recognised the CU for its ‘impressive’ efforts to ‘serve the wider student community’ by awarding the group a Gold Accreditation.
Falmouth CU was praised for its many outreach events, including serving tea and toast, open mic nights, Text-a-Toastie and free meals. Special praise was reserved for the CU’s main meeting programme, which involved inviting guest speakers to talk about how their Christian faith related to their work environment. A spokesperson for the SU said, ‘The Falmouth Christian Union [FCU] organise an impressive range of regular events [and] takes the opportunity to serve the wider student community.
‘During freshers’ week, FCU ran the most comprehensive and varied freshers’ timetable of all our societies and made sure its activities were inclusive of all, even if participants didn’t identify as Christian. We believe FCU is an outstanding example of an FXU [Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union] society and its achievements are inspirational to other societies’.
High quality events
FCU president, Hannah Scoones, commented: ‘We were really pleased to be awarded Gold Accreditation this year by FXU. We’re also excited to be nominated for FXU Society of the Year, and feel that this is a reflection of how well our society works together to put on high-quality events’.
Last year, Christian Unions in Great Britain received over 30 nominations and awards for their positive contribution to university life.
