Four books to enthuse your family in worldwide mission

I am writing this article from a hotel room in Krakow, Poland where I am meeting international Christian publishers and missionaries from around the world.

We are a stone’s throw away from the Schindler factory made famous by the book Schindler’s Ark and the subsequent film Schindler’s List.

The memory of the tragic events of that time live on today, but the future beckons brightly when I see how diverse and unified the Christian church can be as we work to get the word of God into the hands of men, women and children across the globe.

Enthuse your families about the worldwide church and mission through the following titles. They run from the youngest to the oldest and come in at a variety of price points. They are all excellent publications in their own right. Some are titles to read by the television as your family watch international news events unfold. Some have stories in them of real people. Still others look at the practical and spiritual world of world mission.

  1. A Taste of Asia by Reuben Grace, published by 10 Publishing. £9.99 (ISBN 978 1 913 278 373).
  2. Window on the World by Daphne Spragett, published by Candle Books. £18.99 (ISBN 978 1 781 283 684).
  3. 40 Days 40 Bites by Trudi Parkes, published by Christian Focus. £4.99 (ISBN 978 1 781 914 014).
  4. Missionary Stories from around the World by Betty Swinford, published by CF4Kids. £6.99 (ISBN 978 1 527 108 608).

For older teens, I’d recommend A Student’s Guide to Missions by Emilio Garofalo Neto, published by Christian Focus. £3.99 (ISBN 978 1 527 108 967) and also available for Kindle.

And finally, to step a little beyond my remit of children’s books, here are a couple for you!

Killing Fields, Living Fields by Don Cormack, published by Christian Focus. £11.99 (ISBN 978 1 838 097 233).

Only One Life: Missions Stories from Around the World edited by Paul M. Harvey, published by Christian Focus. £8.99 (ISBN 978 1 527 110 427) and also available for Kindle.
