TRUTH FOR ALL TIME
By John Calvin
Translated by Stuart Olyott. Banner of Truth. 77 pages. £2.95
ISBN 0 85151 7498

This book is a little gem! Stuart Olyott has translated for us, from the French, Calvin's 'Brief Outline of the Christian Faith' which he produced in 1536/1537 and was based on the first edition of the famous 'Institutes'.

It would be hard to find a clearer summary of the faith in short a compass, and perhaps impossible to find one so warm. Calvin is still thought of as a cold, hard legalist, but this little book scatters that picture. Here, you will find him dealing with the knowledge of God, the law of God, the character of faith, the creed, prayer and much else.
