Taking the Gospel to Unreached Peoples
Video (15 min) and study notes
Produced by Global Connections (EMA)
In recent years, much emphasis has been placed on the fact that the Great Commission demands that the gospel be taken to all peoples - not simply nations. We need to identify unreached people groups and plan to bring the gospel to them, and the purpose of this video is to help the churches to respond to that need.
Unreached people groups are defined as those who do not have an evangelising church among them; are separated from Christianity by barriers of language, culture, religion, politics or geography; will have little or no chance to hear the gospel without outside missionaries.
This presentation could certainly provide a helpful starting point for group discussion of this important subject. The opening sequences caricature an eccentric open-air preacher addressing a flock of sheep - but it gets better! It is well-produced and moves along quickly. Personally, I found the technique of interspersing slots in black and white distracting, but I asked one of our young members to watch it and he found that helped to hold his attention. He is probably much more in the age group targeted by this presentation than I am, and he found it very challenging.
The study notes have material for two studies, plus a study for young people, and also some course studies of churches which have faced the challenge expressed. There is also a full-colour poster to help bring the matter to the attention of the whole church.
There is a great need for us to be more informed about the spiritual needs of our world and to think through our response. This material will be of some help in that process.
