This is a practical exposition of the Ten Commandments from the minister of Westminster Chapel.

I appreciated the method of handling the Ten Commandments as Dr. Kendall sees them through the New Testament perspective of God's grace.

The Law was never meant to save us or sanctify us. The freedom that Christ has brought to us is precious indeed, and we need to preserve that freedom in Christ without being entangled again in the yoke of bondage. Having been to Calvary, why return to Sinai? This issue has become a divisive one in the USA, and there are indications it is becoming so here in the UK.

So this book is timely. The first five chapters speak of the Law and its status in the life of the believer. The later exposition of the Commandments is heart warming and spiritually-applied. As with all books from this author's pen, we get to know more of the author than we expected. Personal illustrations, however, are like a double-edged sword. They can help but also detract as well.

Also reference was made on page 132 and page 135 to the anointing God gives us which could lead to us making £50,000 a year or £15,000. This concept was introduced with no Scripture backing and no basis, and it seemed to me to open up the possibility of a prosperity gospel. Poor Tamil believers in South India are rich indeed in God's eyes. These observations ought not to prevent many being helped by this book, which is recommended.
