PATHWAY TO FREEDOM
By Alistair Begg
Moody Publishers. 238 pages
ISBN 0 8024 1716 7

Alistair Begg, experienced pastor and very gifted preacher that he is, not only writes with biblical fluency and an easy style, but puts his finger on real points of need: in this case, the place of the law of God in the life of the Christian believer, the reality of (what we call ) the Old Testament as (what Jesus called it) the Word of God and the Ten Commandments, their origin in God and their meaning for us.

The book would be worth buying for the introductions alone - the foreword by Charles Colson (with his acute perceptions of modern society) and Preface and Prologue by the author. Begg helpfully clarifies biblical teaching on the law, explains what 'not under law but under grace' means, and shows what is the relation between law and love.
