Worth buying? Yes! Why? It is — and it does — what it says on the cover. It is sound exposition. The author makes the difficult, understandable. He is a theologian who makes the reader think. Think about this (on Genesis 3.17): ‘with all the frustration and emptiness that will be part of human existence, how can the phrase “cursed is the ground for thy sake” make sense?’
Buy the book for an answer and more. . . There are many commentaries on Genesis. This is different. I would hesitate to use the word ‘commentary’, more of a good read. It is rich throughout in application. It is written for today, for our times. It warms the heart. Consider this on Genesis 17. ‘Sometimes making sense of life is hard. The explanation will often not help even if we had it. At those moments, it is often best to have an assignment to carry out. We should be so in tune with God’s leading that . . .’ Buy the book to find out more. The book is presented in devotional segments — bite-size pieces. It is a useful tool to all, preachers especially. I wish there were more of the same.
