DAYLIGHT AT MIDNIGHT
By Jane McNabb
Authentic Media. 152 pages. £5.99
ISBN 978-1-85078-756-3

This book is billed as ‘Reflections for women on Esther’, but I encourage men to read it too! What a feast Jane McNabb has prepared for her readers, one that should be savoured slowly so that every morsel is thoroughly enjoyed.

The 11 chapters follow through the book of Esther, giving historical background, New Testament interpretation and contemporary application. Questions for personal reflection at the end of each chapter are thoughtful, challenging and encouraging and the book could well be used for group study if the chapters were read before meeting.

Jane’s style is lively and personal without sacrificing biblical accuracy or uncompromising teaching. She quotes from a wide spectrum of Christian writers to provide examples of her clearly set out points. Apart from the few typos and stray apostrophes that a proofreader should have corrected, this book is thoroughly to be recommended as providing solid teaching in an eminently digestible form. A much better Easter present than a chocolate egg!
