It seems that the minor prophets are kept in the background by many Christians. In spite of this neglect, they all contain rich seams of truth, and a bit of diligent mining would bring great benefit.
So here is a book which should encourage any believer to get into them! It deals with the main points of all 12 of these fascinating messages. It is written in an ‘easy-to-understand’ style, but will enrich the reader’s knowledge considerably. It would help anyone at any stage of teaching the Word of God — one-to-one study with a friend, leading small group Bible study, preaching.
The author has used his ability to bring in a fascinating range of information from many different sources to the full. Questions addressed include: ‘who were they?’, ‘why are they called Minor Prophets?’, ‘when and where did they live?’ and ‘what was their ministry?’ As the title suggests, he looks for the main point, but does not avoid anything else of interest, including harder issues such as election, God’s absolute sovereignty, hell, etc.
Full use is made of many resources — the Bible and writers, ancient and modern, are always used to great effect. There are many practical applications to modern Christian thinking and living. The reviewer found the book to be full of insight, not only for preaching, but also, and equally importantly, for personal study and reflection. It is the kind of book I would give to any believer, and urge them to read it!
