This is a brief, simple, easy to read, and wholesome book aimed at helping and encouraging elderly believers to continue to live fruitful, faithful lives for the Lord and his church.
The author, who had been a Baptist minister, gave his last years to supporting elderly Christians who often feel they are sidelined and undervalued in churches that emphasise the need to focus on the young.
The book sets out to draw helpful lessons from the lives of aged saints in Scripture, and also digs into a number of pertinent Scripture passages that reveal both the graces that ought to mark the elderly believer and the dangers that face such. All the material here is insightful and sensitively handled. It is a gentle book that deals with the attitudes that are to characterise our later years of life for the Lord. It is not a book with detailed advice about planning for retirement, coping on a much reduced income, or keeping physically or mentally fit. But it is full of God-honouring challenge and encouragement to our souls, and could be read with profit by all manner of elderly Christians and those who care about such valuable church members.
