Roy Peacock has held several key academic positions and been an advisor to UK and overseas government bodies and industry on aerospace science and thermodynamics.
His ‘paradigm shift’ was from religious scepticism to faith in Christ. The early chapters are an account of events, including the conversion of his wife Elizabeth, which led to the dramatic change in Roy. Thereafter the reader is taken on a journey through his life with a very strong focus on the healing ministry which developed alongside his scientific career.
There are numerous accounts given of specific healings in large meetings, house groups and even for those hundreds of miles away from where Roy was speaking. One chapter is given to individuals who were ‘raised from the dead’! So you are left with all the usual questions that this type of ministry brings – the same questions that come when on occasions I flick through the channels to God TV! Can God heal directly today? Yes he can. Have all the described healings been verified and were individuals drawn to Christ. That is always a big question mark! My understanding of the Gospels is that when Jesus healed it was always personal – not mass healings or publicised in advance. This book will need to be read with real discernment, since the whole theological underpinning of the position which occupies centre stage is, in my view, weak.
However, I want to stress that this does not mean that God cannot do things where modern medicine (my academic discipline) does not seem to be bringing the desired improvements.
