If you’ve read other books outlining the Bible’s teaching on sex, can I recommend you read this too! Adrian and Celia Reynolds have clearly met their aim to introduce the subject of sex in a biblical, brief and direct way. It’s a wonderfully logical and helpful book. It’s easy to read, but certainly not lightweight in content.
The book begins helpfully by charting the changing views of society regarding sex and exposing some of its inherent contradictions.
Against this backdrop the language of the Bible places sex positively in its rightful place. Within the big picture everything is for the glory and praise of God.
As God intended
The actual words and descriptions the Bible uses about sex aren’t just concerned with the rights and wrongs, but the context in which sex takes place. Sex, as God intended, pictures Christ’s relationship to his bride; it gloriously illustrates the wonders of our union with Christ and the perfect and active union there is in the Trinity.
Alongside these great Biblical principles, this book is also very real, pastoral and practical in vital areas. Adrian and Celia haven’t set out to provide all the answers, but helpfully point the reader to other useful and concise resources.
Thinking carefully
In our sex saturated society this excellent little volume could be profitably passed on to those who want a clearer understanding of what the Bible teaches about God’s good gift of sex. And it will encourage any reader, married or single, to think carefully about their own attitude to sex, ensuring that it’s no more and no less than our Creator intends.
