This e-book is self-published by the author, Gerald Duffett. Mr Duffett is a retired teacher (both religious studies and biology) and the book is the result of a life-time working in these fields and applying them to the biblical doctrine of Creation. It is an easy read and full of fascinating facts as well as interpretations.
Gerald sees dinosaurs as an important aspect, not just of biblical creation, but as an integral part of biblical theology concerning sin and salvation. In contrast to the classification by many of dinosaurs as ‘pre-history’, he sees them as an important part of the biblical time-line.
Though readers may question an occasional interpretation of the data, the story line is a convincing one. In ten chapters the author considers the nature of dinosaurs as a part of the ‘creeping things’ described in Genesis 1 and then how they were affected by man’s sin and the judgments in Genesis 3 and the Flood. He also examines the nature of the behemoth and leviathan in Job and historical allusions to the dinosaurs (The term dinosaur is a relatively modern one, introduced by cre-ationist Richard Owen 200 years ago).
Finally he looks at the fossilisation of dinosaurs, the lack of evidence of evolution in them and how they corroborate Scripture.
There are 15 pages of appendices giving a lot of data which is perhaps not readily available to the non-specialist (and may not be useful to such either!) followed by 15 pages of questions (based on each chapter) and comments. The final 14 pages are taken up with a variety of indexes. A fascinating and provocative book.
