Help for hurts

THE BIGGEST QUESTION
Why does God allow suffering?
Focus Radio. 44 pages & DVD

and 10 Group Members’ Guides

‘The truth of the matter is that all we have to do is live long enough and we will suffer.’ It’s a sobering thought from Don Carson, but of course, entirely accurate.

Sadly, every pastor knows that within his congregation are those who have imbibed, to some extent, the all-pervasive ‘health, wealth and prosperity’ gospel, usually with devastating results. The Biggest Question faces the problem of pain and suffering head on!

Designed for homegroups, it would be equally useful in a whole-church setting and for individual use. In eight sessions the course deals first with the root problems of suffering, which will help Christians to answer their unbelieving friends regarding this issue, and then how as Christians we can come to terms with suffering and pain in our own lives and the lives of others.

Often very moving

Each session is clearly laid out with helpful questions and the use of high quality, pertinent, and often very moving DVD episodes which are designed to stimulate the group discussion, and ground the discussion into real-life situations. The course is thoroughly biblical and will engage people of all abilities. Accompanying the Leader’s Guide are booklets for individuals to use and at the end of each session is a ‘Going Deeper’ section for further study during the week.

I feel this is an excellent resource for churches, which will help Christians to have a biblical understanding of suffering, that through our pain and suffering we can still trust a sovereign God who knows what he is doing even in the worst of times and never ceases to love his children.
