AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest Marvel movie yet, combining characters from disparate movies in a truly epic blockbuster. It’s dramatic, funny, and audacious storytelling.

When the mad Titan, Thanos (Josh Brolin), tries to wipe out half the universe by collecting the Infinity Gauntlet and the Infinity Stones, which would give him ultimate power, the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and assorted other characters assemble to stop him.

Great interactions

This results in some great interactions between characters like Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and the Guardians of the Galaxy. There’s a looming sense of threat as the characters face the imminent potential of death and loss. They’re faced with tough decisions, torn between saving the universe and protecting the ones they love. Characters make sacrificial choices; some noble, some more dubious. The film raises the question of which sacrifices are acceptable, and which are not.

In the face of danger, evil, and moral dilemmas, we can take comfort from the fact that Jesus made the perfect sacrifice (c.f. Hebrews 10.14). In a sense, he both saved the world and saved individuals.

Editors Note: Dan Rackham has produced an excellent short gospel video based on Avengers: Infinity War. This can be found at this link: https://youtu.be/O47RUtmasfk or watch it below.
