Whether you are still learning the basics or have been sharing the gospel with Muslims for years, this new book will inform, inspire and help you. Useful fresh ideas are shared in an easily digested format.
The first chapter reminds us that each person who calls themselves a Muslim has their own unique understanding of their faith. Samuel Green stresses that evangelism begins with genuine love for individuals, a love that is possible through the love of Jesus.
The ‘fresh approach’ is basically starting with what Muslims believe about Christianity. Avoid the word Bible, and use the books of Moses, the Psalms, the Prophets and the Gospels to engage with and correct Muslim understanding. Subjects covered include Jesus is God, the Trinity, Salvation, the death of Jesus, and Muhammed. Each chapter explores the subject with Bible references and Qur’an verses before ending with a useful summary, a list of personal applications, and a number of very helpful common questions and how to answer them. There is a lot of detail – and while it’s not often that I’ve been able to engage at that depth with my Bible and a Qur’an open, it helps to know the bigger picture.
I’ve not mentioned the Appendices in a review before! But I really liked the plan for reading Matthew’s Gospel with a Muslim.
May this book help many of us to share Jesus more effectively!
