Training for leading

CROSSLANDS MUSIC MINISTRY TRACK

If we want to lead sung worship faithfully and with pastoral sensitivity, then we need to be trained – not only musically but also theologically.

It is a profoundly pastoral responsibility to choose songs and hymns for Sunday services, to lead the people of God in song, and to put words on their lips with songs we write.

That’s why I am deeply thankful to God to have begun my studies on the music ministry track with Crosslands.

I’m only six months into my studies, but already I’ve benefitted hugely from the wisdom of the team of humble men and women who lead and teach on Crosslands. The learning community is supportive and warm, with many others from around the country studying (as I am) whilst labouring for the Lord in our local churches. I’m convinced that I’ve already made friends who will support me in my ministry for the long term. Further fruit from my studies so far has been a deeper love for Jesus, a stronger desire to pray, and a renewed strength to love and serve my church family.

Crosslands has a variety of training options for people at different stages; you certainly don’t have to be in full-time ministry to benefit. They also have a number of tracks for specific ministry areas (such as women’s ministry and cross-cultural mission). The music ministry track manages to provide a breadth of theological study whilst also allowing for time to dive deeply into issues specific to music ministry. If you or someone you know is considering music ministry long term (please Lord, raise those people up – we need them!) then the Crosslands music ministry track offers the best possible start.
