In the historic city of Chester in June, 50 nationalities were reached with the gospel during a new venture for United Beach Missions (UBM).
For the first time, Christian Answer, the open-air arm of UBM, took a diverse team to the cathedral city for a week of open-air preaching, an exhibition stand and literature table, questionnaire work and an international café evening.
UBM has taken over from outreach ministry ‘Tell-a-Tourist’, which served the city for nearly 30 years but was unable to carry on with the work last year.

In the first two days of the mission, 100 John's Gospels were handed out and many conversations were had. One lady said she had been searching for an answer for 54 years and wanted to be put in contact with a good church to do one-to-one Bible studies, which has since happened. Another man stopped and was clearly very angry at God, but warmed to the team, and returned the next day.
The team ranged in age from 18-year-old Wing Yee Lo, who described the first day of the mission as ‘one of the top ten days’ in her whole life, to the oldest member, a 78-year-old Jamaican great-grandmother.
Tim Howlett, UBM executive director, said: ‘God willing, UBM will be back next year to continue the work of reaching the world in the city of Chester.’
