September 7 was a day of great thanksgiving and rejoicing at Little Hill Church, Wigston, as Joshua Harrison was inducted as the pastor-teacher.
John Eardley, an elder, spoke of the gratitude to God for the faithful ministry of many throughout the years of waiting for a pastor and the way in which the church had experienced a remarkable sense of unity, love, vision and growth.
Joshua had been a member of the church since 2010 and became an elder earlier in 2013. His conviction of a call to the ministry came through his daily Bible readings where Joshua was told to be strong and courageous.
Like Jesus
The Rev. Mike Stringer highlighted characteristics of the Joshua of Scripture. He emphasised the importance of keeping close to the Lord and of commitment to God’s people in leadership. While encouraging Joshua to make the ‘former’ Joshua his example, Mike reminded him that overall he was called to be like Jesus. The church was reminded that each individual must be committed, faithful and prayerful as collectively it supports Joshua in all his responsibilities and in every part of his ministry, so that God will be glorified in Little Hill.
