The beginning of advent this year marked the start of a new phase in the life of the Honor Oak Christian Fellowship, a church in south-east London affiliated to the FIEC.
On December 1, Michael Peach began his ministry there after previously studying at Oak Hill College and working as the Assistant Minister at St. John’s Church, Felbridge, on the Surrey–Sussex border.
Michael comes with his wife Lizzy and four young children and the family will be adjusting to circumstances very different from the pastures of Sussex!
The commissioning service was a joyous affair as many friends and family joined the church congregation to thank God for his answer to their prayers and to witness Michael’s commitment to serve the church and the congregation’s promise to support him and to respond positively to his ministry.
The meeting was addressed by Dr. Garry Williams (Director of the John Owen Centre) who spoke helpfully from the Ephesian letter, encouraging Michael to focus on his God-given work and advising the people in the church to enable Michael to equip them for ‘works of service’.
Richard Underwood, the Pastoral Director of the FIEC, sent a message of greeting with the prayer that ‘with this new and long-awaited chapter in the life of the church may you experience the grace of the Lord in exceptional measure’. It is a prayer that expresses the longing of the church as they look to benefit from Michael’s ministry.
