Members of a range of religious communities met with Parliamentarians in December to provide comments and responses to the
RE Council’s Report on Religious Education.
A number of significant organisations said they had not been consulted as part of the development of the report and members present would be referring back to their organisations to determine whether they were among those claimed by Michael Gove to have endorsed it.
The group will also provide an alternative report to submit to the All-Party Parliamentary Group sometime in the New Year. Among the elements of the report will be that Religious Education must be informed by the actual faith and practice of faith communities and should not be confused with a museum approach that spec-tates, but expresses no commitment.
