Patrick Sookhdeo was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on March 10.
Mr Sookhdeo has been released on police bail until May. A spokeswoman for him said: ‘Patrick strongly denies any allegations that have been made against him but is working closely with the police to assist with their investigation’.
He has become a prominent expert on Islamist movements since the 9/11 attacks and an advisor to the Ministry of Defence on working with communities in Iraq and Afghanistan.
