Keswick has announced a more detailed programme for this year’s Convention, as new chief executive Jonathan Lamb settles into the role.
The Convention, which runs from July 12 – August 1 in the Lake District town, is exploring some of the deep questions of life, and has invited apologists Ravi Zacharias, Chris Sinkinson and Roger Carswell, and Bible teachers Vaughan Roberts, Ian Coffey and many others to preach. The Convention also aims to make its programme helpful to Christians who bring non-believing friends and relatives with them in its third week.
‘The 2014 theme is, “Really? Searching for reality in a confusing world”’, said Lamb, who has also served with IFES and Langham Preaching. ‘We hope to build the faith of Christians and equip them to share the gospel, as well as for Keswick to be accessible to those who want to explore the truth of Christianity.’
Engagement without compromise
Ravi will be speaking on engaging our culture without compromising truth. There will be morning Bible readings given by Vaughan Roberts on Romans, Jonathan Lamb on the Psalms, and Chris Sinkinson providing a tour through the Bible. David Robertson, who heads evangelistic ministry Solas, is giving a lecture on the problem of evil. International speakers not only include Ravi Zacharias, but Ivor Poobalan from Sri Lanka, Ruth Padilla DeBorst from Latin America, and well known evangelist Becky Manley Pippert.
Record-breaking numbers
After last year’s record-breaking numbers, Keswick Ministries is hoping that it can serve an even wider group of Christians from across the generations and denominations. ‘There is no doubt that there is a growing hunger amongst British Christians to hear God’s Word and to grow in Christ-likeness’, said Lamb. ‘Keswick Ministries seeks to encourage the spiritual renewal of God’s people for his mission in the world.’
Keswick also runs special teaching and groups for young people and children, people with learning disabilities, and people who use British Sign Language.
There will also be a special BBC Radio 4 service broadcast from Keswick, with Ravi Zacharias speaking.
