The sun shone. The sea sparkled. And, from August 5 – 7, some of Oban’s summer visitors found ‘the Sun of Righteousness’ rising among them during the Argyll Convention.
Hector Morrison (Principal of Highland Theological College) had liberty in expounding Isaiah 52-53. When Christ sends you out with the gospel do you feel you are merely gathering his spoils of victory? Or entering the fellowship of the Trinity?
Afternoons were filled with a variety of subjects. Hector spoke about revivals on his native Island of Lewis. It was a moving experience. Carine MacKenzie spoke about the gospel in the family – most important in view of secular influence on our children.
Heaven came down
Each day came to a climax with Richard Bewes’ addresses on Revelation 21-22 on the theme ‘The Time is Near’. His titles were, ‘The dwelling of God is with men’, ‘Come, I will show you the Bride’, ‘Behold, I come quickly’. He soared, and took us with him.
We wished that everyone could be there as heaven came down and glory filled the room. So put a date in your diary. The next Convention is from August 4 – 6, 2015. Oban is a tourist hotspot, so make arrangements early.
