Joy after five years

A recent joyful report began back in 2009 at an Urban Saints youth group in the North West of England.

Meeting on Fridays, two brothers always turned up to ‘join in’ by causing mayhem.

This was their way to get attention, because, at home, life was very unsettled and being out of their house was preferable. Their demeanour was often glazed and icy from being out in the northern cold for so long.

Pushed to the limit

Though pushed to their limits, the leaders never gave up on them, always showing them love and respect. They talked to them on the street whenever they could and prayed for them after every Friday night session.

After a five year absence, a returning leader was greeted by one of the brothers. His demeanour was bright and cheerful and he explained excitedly that he had been baptised that summer. He and his brother had both begun to make something of their lives and had risen up out of the hopeless situation they had been in.

Transformation doesn’t always happen overnight. The boys were prayed for constantly and that prayer and unconditional love shown by their leaders made a huge difference in their lives.
