Easter saw the official opening of Broadstone Baptist Church’s (BBC) new two storey community building.
Sited immediately adjacent to the worship hall, it represents the completion of the first part of the project to build a totally new church facility that will be open most days.
The striking, split-level building provides a self-contained church hall on the lower level with its own entrance, small kitchen, office and cloakrooms. The upper floor provides a large lounge with full height vista windows and a comprehensively equipped catering kitchen plus cloakrooms.
Growing numbers
With numbers growing, especially young families, the decision was made in 2009 to build a new, larger and more flexible church facility for gospel outreach in the area.
Funding for the Phase One building took place over a five year period with 75% of the total coming from the generous giving by the church family. The balance was made up by grants from trusts and charitable organisations; the most significant coming from the locally based Talbot Village Trust. This is a registered charity which supports causes in Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole, East Dorset and the Isle of Purbeck. It is one of the area’s leading benefactors and currently donates around £800,000 a year to charitable causes and local community projects.
