A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder – after walking into a police station to confess to the crime he committed ten years ago.
Merice Brown told officers he had become a born-again Christian and that he wanted to clear his conscience after finding God.
After entering a police station in Leicester on March 2, he led officers to the gun he used in a violent attack in 2005.
Brown became embroiled in an argument with a man in a barber shop in South London. He then left only to return minutes later with a gun. After confronting the man again he shot him several times.
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his jaw, as well as three wounds to his forehead but, incredibly, he survived.
Police began an investigation into the attack, but were unable to identify any suspects, so it remained unsolved until Brown chose to confess ten years later.
