Around two years ago, a young and newly ordained minister and his wife had a vision to plant a church in the heart of Central London which would last for 100 years.
But rather than taking a group of around 40 people, as is the usual church planting route, they did something crazy. With the blessing of their sending churches and a number of Christian organisations, Malcolm (formally at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford) and his wife decided to move to London with no money, no people and no place to plant a new church. Two and a bit years later we praise God that there is a new church in Central London meeting in Leicester Square.
Stones throw from Soho
God raised up from scratch a great team of people who have worked alongside Malcolm and his wife in the white harvest fields of London to plant a new, diverse congregation in one of the darkest places in the UK, with Soho and the sex district just a stone’s throw away.
The church is informal and cutting-edge and we praise God that it’s had a number of new converts since it started with Malcolm and his wife travelling into the city to meet unbelievers and Christians who did not have a church and were moving into the city.
Missional community
The church will not be for everyone, but if you are looking for a missional community which is committed to honouring God, and you are open to deep discipleship in your life through the Word of God by the Spirit, willing to be trained to love lavishly and win your friends for Christ, then why not come down to the playground which is Leicester Square and try it out.
