The summer of 2016 has seen answers to prayer for those involved in the work of Friends International across the UK.
International friends in Bournemouth heard the gospel story and responded by taking Bibles and tracts in good numbers. Edinburgh also had a good number coming along to nightly Bible studies.
Cafés in Manchester
In Manchester, over 120 new people came to the cafés and two Bible-study groups took place almost every evening. Some responded positively, with a total of 47 wishing to come to church and 28 wanting to attend a Bible study. One person has already committed her life to Christ. The prayer is that the work which was started in the lives of these students will go on to completion as they are followed up by café team members and their churches. Eleven churches in Manchester contributed to the outreach through prayer, financial gifts, hosting team members and providing meals for the team or cakes for the cafés.
In Cambridge, despite a reduced team, they were amazed to see how God works and felt privileged to be his partner reaching out to unsaved internationals.
In Canterbury 85 students attended the evening cafés across the two weeks. These students represented 20 different nationalities! A dozen or so international students attended church services with the Canterbury team. Kay was one international student met during the outreach. She enjoyed meeting new friends and practising speaking English. She joined the optional Bible study at the café and for the very first time heard about who Jesus is. Kay said that she enjoyed the Bible studies very much and wanted to know what happened to Jesus after he died. She shared that in her home country it is hard to learn about the Christian faith. After one of the Bible studies Kay said that she used to be afraid of God, but now she knows that God is love. Please pray that Kay would continue to meet one-to-one with a team member and that she would continue to attend a local church.
