‘I don’t believe in God, but I think I need to go to the Bible study because there might be something in it. Why else would they love you so much?’
These are the words of Andy, an isolated, vulnerable young man who recently became part of the family at Caring For Life (CFL).
CFL is a Christian ministry whose aim is to ‘share the love of Jesus’ with vulnerable, chaotic and hurting people in the city of Leeds. It was originally set up to meet the needs of young people who were leaving local authority care and ending up in great need.
30 year anniversary
This young man had grown up in the care system and lost touch with both his foster carers and birth family. He was also living with reduced mobility due to a degenerative muscle condition and so was totally alone in the world, barely surviving. He is now attending farm projects, being supported in his home and beginning to find some purpose and value in his life among people who love him. Most importantly, he is looking beyond the people who are helping him to the Saviour who loves him and whose love inspires and empowers this ministry.
Please pray that many more people will be safely housed, loved, cared for and pointed to the Saviour, for many years to come. In 2017 CFL will celebrate 30 years of sharing the love of Jesus with the almost 5,000 ‘Andys’ that God has brought to CFL.
