The Pastor Training International (PTI) and Christian Books Worldwide (CBW) supporter’s day on 12 May was inspiring.
With reports from across the globe showing how the work of PTI and CBW has grown, a highlight was Pastor Andrew, from Myanmar, sharing how PTI’s training benefits local pastors. Many new churches have been planted in the rural Buddhist country. Congregations have grown, with many new converts, but pastors need training in how to disciple and feed them. PTI encourages pastors to read the text carefully, to interpret its true meaning, then preach and apply it.
New pastors required
Peter Maclure highlighted the explosive population growth across most of sub-Saharan Africa. But, the church lacks leadership and is vulnerable to false teaching. Bible colleges cannot keep up with the need for new pastors, so PTI’s training is essential if the church is to grow strong and firmly rooted in the gospel.
There were updates on the work in India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and Cuba. Trainers felt privileged in doing this work.
CBW’s books have encouraged many pastors, and many titles are available digitally through a new cloud-based app. Rosie Edwards spoke on the expansion of PPP commentaries (used at most PTI conferences).
