A 30th birthday celebration was held at Chessington Evangelical Church in October for the work of INSIGHT in Kingston and Richmond boroughs.
Started in 1988, eight churches formed the charity, funding a full-time Christian Schools Worker. The work now has four full-time paid workers with Qualified Teacher Status and around 30 volunteers.
90% of schools
The INSIGHT Team sketched out some of the opportunities and challenges as they engage with over 90% of the primary and secondary schools in the borough. They provide RE lessons, assemblies, and run lunchtime Bible clubs and CUs.
The Kingston Team recently became accredited trainers of teachers in delivery of the new RE curriculum for the borough, a service that is rapidly being booked up by the schools.
The 30th-birthday celebration included many past workers of whom the first, Ian Fry, gave the address. Other elements were led by founder member of the INSIGHT trust, Trevor Archer, and by Bart Erlebach, minister of Emmanuel Tolworth.
It was an inspiring evening in which God was centre stage, and in which his hand of blessing was not just acknowledged, but really celebrated.
