18–20 June was the fourth IPC Catalyst Conference, with approaching 200 attendees at IPC Ealing.
Andrew Randall (pastor of Grace Church, Larbert) spoke helpfully on The Gospel of Knowing God, The Life of Knowing God and The Cost of Knowing God from Philippians.
The second speaker was Scott Swain (Professor of Systematic Theology at RTS) who preached on the doctrine of God as outlined in the second chapter of the Westminster Confession of Faith – The Supremacy of God, The Sovereignty of God and The Triunity of God.
Kevin DeYoung spoke on Chapter three of the Confession – The Works of God in His Decrees, in Creation and in Providence. DeYoung was self-effacing, very thorough in what he said, and clarified all he spoke on with terrific illustrations.
The final speaker was Sinclair Ferguson, who preached on the work of the ministry from 2 Timothy – Indelible Marks of our Calling, Rigorous Demands of our Service, and Foundational Demands of our Ministry. Ferguson is God’s great gift as a speaker, preacher and writer.
Can you imagine such high theology, preached with passion, application and humour to 180 men eager to learn, from all over the UK?
What also impressed me was the youthfulness of the Conference and the competence of the men present and those leading the meetings. I knew very few of them. How little we know of the kingdom of God in the UK or in the world today.
At last the slumbering beast of confessional Presbyterianism is stirring in the UK.
