A soldier who toured Bosnia and ‘hated Christianity’ has received an award for his evangelistic work in the army.
Army Scripture Reader Lee McDade (see photo) has received a commendation from the Chief of the General Staff, General Mark Carleton-Smith, for ‘Services to the Spiritual and Pastoral Care of Recruits and Permanent Staff’ at the Catterick army barracks.
McDade has been an evangelist for the Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Scripture Readers Association (SASRA) for the past 13 years. In addition to one to one pastoral sessions, his work includes leading garrison church services, Bible studies, prayer meetings and counselling services.
