More than 750 churches across the UK and Ireland have signed up to A Passion for Life – a pioneering, month-long, evangelistic mission this Easter.
The mission is providing the tools to enable individual churches to ‘plan, build and promote’ their evangelism in the lead-up to Easter. They range from online support resources to training videos, which the organisers said are being well-received by churches.
They have also compiled a growing list of experienced speakers willing to speak at evangelistic events around the country and online.
The Livingroom Church in Wallyford, an 11-year-old church plant on the outskirts of Edinburgh, is one of the churches which has signed up. The pastor, Andrew Agnew, described the materials provided as ‘top quality’ and said they will become a staple training resource for the church.
He said: ‘We started with a huge amount of energy and drive to reach out and make Jesus known. Over time we have lost some of our outreach drive, and had to invest a huge amount of time in other church issues and needs.
‘We have been praying about how to keep a ‘church planting mindset’ among us, and when we looked at the Passion for Life materials, we knew that this was the kind of teaching that we needed to be reminded of, and so we are rolling out the videos and discussions among our home groups, and forming our evangelism team too. This is helping us to mould our outreach ministry meetings as things open up after lockdowns.
‘We are so glad to have such top-quality materials from a British point of view that can inspire us as a church.’
Jonathan Armstrong, pastor of Diss Baptist Church, said the church views A Passion for Life as ‘an opportunity to get our church family looking outward again after a couple of years of being told to stay safe and stay at home’.
He added: ‘Our communities are more ready than ever before to hear about the life that comes from salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ; and joining with Passion for Life is a way of keeping our focus on this.
‘We love the abundance of practical articles and videos on the website. This isn’t just telling us what to do, it helps us explore how to do it.’
