Jennifer Rees Larcombe, who had a lengthy ministry in the area of prayer, healing, speaking and writing, has died.
After becoming seriously ill in 1982 with a virus that confined her with constant pain to a wheelchair for eight years, she was reportedly healed through the prayer of a new Christian at a meeting at which she was speaking. She also experienced a broken marriage. Her ministry focused on helping people adjust to pain, loss and trauma.
Her ministry, Beauty From Ashes, posted a message from Larcombe’s family, which read: ‘It is with deep sadness, yet thankfulness, that we share the news that … our beloved mother Jennifer Rees Larcombe passed away. She died peacefully at home while surrounded by an atmosphere of prayer and worship, having been visited throughout the weekend by her closest friend, her brother, and her children and grandchildren.’
J. John writes: Jennifer Rees Larcombe’s death on 24 October 2022 will have come as a sad loss to the many thousands who were helped by her unique ministry. Her influence was fourfold:
First, people could identify with her. She was a remarkable communicator; never talking down to you but always to you, personally.
Second, she had utter integrity. She was so convincing because she was so honest about who she was, how she felt and how she believed God was dealing with her.
Third, she had great insight. There was no sense of superficiality with her; she thought deeply about every aspect of the Christian life.
Finally, she had spiritual intimacy. She didn’t just know about God; she knew God. There was a rare warmth, a reality and a vigour in her Christian walk.
