The Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) is a growing diocese. From its very first days, church planting has been a key aspect of what AMiE has sought to do – hardly surprising given its name. In recent months, AMiE have launched their 10:20 Planting Plan in which they hope to plant ten new churches by 2025 and a further twenty by 2030.
New church plants may come in many different shapes and sizes and Grace Community Church in Bury is just one example of what an AMiE church plant could look like.
Ben Williamson, a licenced AMiE church planter, moved to Bury two years ago with the desire to see a new church planted in this area of North Manchester. At the time, Ben had no team with him and no church building; but he did have the backing of a local AMiE church and far more importantly, he went trusting that if it was the Lord’s will, then his gospel endeavours would be a success. He set about making links in the local community and before too long he was meeting with people to read the Bible and began running a group for young families. A couple of years on and a small group of Christians have been meeting together regularly on a Sunday for the last few months. Grace Community Church hopes to soon join AMiE as a full member church.
