AMiE leaders consider how to be ‘rich’ in ministry

Leaders of the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) considered the theme ‘Rich’ at this year’s conference in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Leeds.

This was drawn from 2 Corinthians 10:6, where Paul writes: ‘Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing, poor, yet making many rich, having nothing, and yet possessing everything.’

AMiE is not part of the Church of England, but is linked with the orthodox global Anglican movement GAFCON.

The main speaker was Martin Ayers from St Silas Church in Glasgow (part of AMiE’s sister diocese, the Anglican Convocation in Europe) who spoke from Ezekiel 33–37.

Scott McKay spoke about ‘Rich Discipleship’ and how sharing our lives with others is an important aspect of discipling those in our churches. Rob and Emma Tearle shared about their ministry in a north Hull council estate and what ‘Rich Hospitality’ looks like in their context. Tim Chapman talked about the importance of pastoral visits, drawing on wisdom from Richard Baxter, in a session titled ‘Rich Visitation’. Chris and Jennie Houghton spoke of what makes ‘Rich Gatherings’, sharing some of the lessons they have learned since Chris became Senior Minister of Holy Trinity Gateshead.
