The 14th Birmingham Conference arranged by the committee of Christian Worship was held in March at Ebenezer Chapel, Old Hill, West Midlands.
Up to 80 people attended the conference, where several speakers spoke on a wide range of Scriptures.
It began on Friday evening with Oliver Wyncoll preaching a clear gospel message from Isaiah 48:18.
Jonathan Northern led two profitable and timely sessions based on the Epistle of Jude. His first lecture was on ‘Keeping Ourselves’: having given a description of false professors and worldly believers, Jude exhorts his readers to separate from such, and live the life of true godliness. His second lecture, ‘Keeping the Faith’, alluded to the period prior to the 18th- century revival when the churches fell under the influence of Deism; and ministers were, misguidedly, industriously sapping the essential principles from the faith.
Dr David Allen also gave notable lectures: ‘Christ-Centred Preaching’ based on the account of The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24: 13-35: and ‘The Need for Reformation in Preaching’, based on Romans 10: 13-15.
