Carey Conference: A holy life

David Campbell

For over 50 years, Reformed Baptist pastors and leaders from across the UK have come together for fellowship and teaching at The Carey Conference. Occurring annually, it is a guaranteed way to start your year with plenty of encouragement and nourishing ministry.

This year the conference revolved around the theme of A Holy Life, with David Campbell delivering three thought-provoking messages on the power, direction, and beauty of holiness. A range of other sessions were delivered across the three days, including a distinct women’s track (Gail Curry), two detailed seminars on a theology of unbelieving children and how to pastor their parents (Paul Mallard), and a biographical paper drawing lessons from the mental suffering of Charles Spurgeon (Paul Brunning). Each evening, the day finished with worship, as Conrad Pomeroy preached on the identity and incarnation of the Word from John 1. All the talks are now available for you to listen to on the Reformation Today website.

With a wide diversity of ages and stages among attendees, it really is a conference for anyone involved in or preparing for Christian ministry and church leadership. Some came by themselves, others arrived with fellow leaders from their churches, and still others came with their families. All will have left with new friendships, strengthened resolve and better equipped for ministry in 2024. Whether you are a newcomer, or regular attendee, make sure to put the dates for next year (7-9 January 2025) in your diary!
