Popular website SermonAudio, which hosts broadcasters, speakers and sermons from conservative Bible-believing Christians, has effectively been censored by Facebook.
Thousands of links to the website were purged from individual and church accounts across the UK, US and elsewhere in early May.
Many Facebook users received notifications stating that the content could not be shared because the link “goes against our Community Standards on cyber security” and “includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive”.
Some links have reportedly since been restored. Steven Lee, founder of SermonAudio, said Facebook was asked for clarification but no response has been received. Writing on X, he said: “It goes without saying that this underscores the necessity of using private infrastructure to safeguard Biblical preaching for posterity.”
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, did not respond to en’s enquiries.
