More than 340 churches are taking part in a nationwide evangelistic mission around the Easter period.
Churches as far north as Thurso, Scotland and as far south as Jersey (plus a church in France, en has been told!) are participating in Life’26 – facilitated by outreach organisation A Passion for Life (APFL) and covered in detail in both the January and February print editions of en.
Alex Hillman, APFL’s Communications and Operations Lead, told that en participating churches have been filling in a communal “prayer calendar”, detailing events their fellowships are putting on. Events span ages and genders: Brookdale Church, Ilfracombe, has added its ladies’ spring craft event to the prayer calendar; and Mirfield Evangelical Church will run a men’s curry night.
Holy Trinity Church (Norwich), Fernwood Community Church (Newark) and Wem Baptist Church (Shrewsbury) are just some of the congregations hosting Easter events for the whole family. Radcliffe Road Baptist Church, Bury, is planning an “open-air singing” event on the Greater Manchester town’s high street. St Luke’s, Willerby, is hosting an afternoon tea; Mustard Seed Evangelical Church, Callington, is running a youth lunch event; and Beccles Baptist Church is offering a breakfast and Q&A with former Premier League footballer-turned-pastor Gavin Peacock – this is by no means an extensive list of participating churches and examples of events they’re putting on.
Life’26 is a nationwide gospel mission that started in March, in which church fellowships share the gospel with their communities. This year, the chosen theme is: “Ever feel like something’s missing?” APFL is providing resources on its website, including suggestions for evangelistic events churches can host. St Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks, and CityGates Church, Norwich, are just two of the churches sporting “Life’26” banners outside their buildings.
