The Proclamation Trust has announced the sad and shocking news that a dear friend, Ernest Mulenga, from Zambia, died unexpectedly in his sleep on the penultimate day of Cornhill Scotland’s Pastors’ Training Course in Glasgow. There had been no suggestion beforehand that he was unwell.
Ernest was an online student at the Cornhill Training Course for two years before travelling to London in 2023, to join the course in person. While in London, he was based at St Helen’s Church, North Kensington.
Ernest’s love for the Lord and Zambia inspired him with the vision to train gospel workers who would faithfully preach the Bible. Humanly speaking, that vision has lost a key worker, but we pray that Ernest’s legacy will inspire many others to take up the torch.
Please pray for Ernest’s wife Annie and their three young children – daughter Mishael (7) and twin sons, Raphael and Nathaniel (3), who were back at home in Zambia, commending them to the care of their loving Shepherd, Jesus. Pray too for his fellow students and staff at Cornhill in London and Glasgow, and for the St Helen’s church family, as they come to terms with this sad news.
In life and death the Lord reigns. In grief, raw with the shock of the sudden loss of a dear brother, the hope of the gospel is everything. ‘Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ (1 Corinthians 15:57)
