France: praising God together in Paris

More than 220 French-speaking women gathered together on 14 April for the annual ‘Chrétiennes Engagées’ Conference.

The keynote speaker, Sarah Richelle, spoke from Psalms 1 and 2; ‘Happy – Finding your joy in the Word and in the King’. The participants, representing over 59 churches in the Paris region and wider, braved train strikes and Easter holiday traffic to get to the American Church in Paris, on the Quai d’Orsay, close to Les Invalides. They were built up by excellent Bible teaching and the opportunity to praise God and enjoy fellowship together.

In its fourth year

Chrétiennes Engagées, launched by a group of friends convinced by the need to teach solid biblical truths to women, has organised a conference each Spring since 2015. Previous conferences have explored the following themes: ‘What must I give up in order to gain Christ?’ (Philippians 2-3); ‘Only one life: choose well, invest well’ (Luke 18-19); and ‘Struck and sinking? Faith tested by reality’ (Romans 8). The current committee is made up of: Laurence Koning, Laura Nelson, Catherine Nguyen, Deborah Prisk, Loanne Procopio, Lynda Rat, Andreea Stanciu and Anne-Sophie Tandy, who themselves are drawn from different churches in the Paris region.
