Friends of a man who converted from Islam
believe his death on 4 October was linked
to numerous threats he received from his
family that they would kill him for his
change of faith.
Amr Hussein Mohamed El-Sayeh had
been reported
for apostasy by his uncle.
Someone who saw his body at the hospital noted bruising around his neck and face
which do not fit with the official verdict of
death by electrocution. Also, his body wasn’t
ritually washed for burial. This is thought to
be because he had a tattoo of a cross on his
wrist which would have caused his family to
treat him as an apostate.
