A group of people of the Tzotzil ethnic group have destroyed five houses of evangelical families in the Mitzitón community, and imprisoned other evangelicals.
Two evangelical families were affected. Before the houses were destroyed, the Catholics imprisoned two of the group.
The five families, a total of 30 people, were affected. Days after returning to their village, three families had to leave their homes for a second time.
Esdras Alonso González, the leader of the evangelical organisation Alas de Aguila, said that in the neighbouring community of Napité, traditionalist Catholics prevented evangelicals from building a church.
The attacks happened because the evangelical families refused to participate in activities of the Catholic festivities.
