More than 2,000 evangelical women from across the globe gathered in Cordoba, in southern Spain, for the 2024 ‘Aglow Spain’ conference. One delegate told Evangelicals Now that both she and the friends she brought along were ‘touched from the message of the Word of God.’
Aglow is an international organization of women and men in more than 170 nations of the world, ‘presenting Biblical principles as solutions to the challenging issues of our time’.
After greetings from Ana Giménez on behalf of Aglow, Eva Contador, deputy mayor of Cordoba and José Manuel Marín, president of the Evangelical Council of the region of Andalusia, welcomed the attendees. Assemblies of God pastor Esteban Muñoz de Morales then prayed for God’s blessing on the city and the event itself.
The theme of the three day conference was ‘Celebrate, connect, share’. Those taking part included international speaker Igna de Suárez; pastor, composer and singer Marcos Vidal, who won a 2023 Latin Grammy Award; and Rebecca Jacob, a writer and evangelical pastor.
Other talks were given by historian Antonio Simoni, lawyer Séfora Vargas, and Marcos Zapata, president of the Spanish Evangelical Alliance (AEE), addressing the history, ministry and teaching of Jesus about women.
Bands Sal 150 and Adoremos led the worship sessions. Singers Débora Romo and Kike Pavón gave concerts encouraging the audience to worship God in unity. A flamenco music group and dancers led by Miriam Jiménez also participated. Delegates also had access to a permanent Prayer Room, where 35 volunteers offered spiritual support to those requesting it.
Delegate Rosie Lorefice is a member of Ciudad Real Aglow group, in central Spain, where she attends a La Roca church. Her husband is evangelist Paco García. She said: ‘I joined the conference with a large group from my own town, there were 25 of us including some unbelievers. It was really moving to see those friends shedding tears of repentance, thirsty to hear more.’
