Over 3,000 people have heard the gospel in Tirana, Albania, at a major event organised by evangelicals in the country.
Before the mission, about 800 evangelicals met to focus on the church’s evangelistic imperative and to remember that ‘Jesus teaches us that we as a church should be lifted as a city up on the mountain top,’ Evangelical Focus reported.
The event was organised by the Evangelical Alliance of Albania in partnership with New Life Churches & Momentum, and the Alliance of Churches of Tirana. It took place after seven evangelistic concerts in seven squares in the capital city. People who wanted to learn more about Jesus were then put in touch with various local churches. Organisers said: ‘It was a blessed time to see the body of Christ come together in worship, prayer and celebration of what the Lord has done’.
The evangelicals gathered for unity, prayer for the nation and preaching the word. Gjergji Vjeshta from the Disciples of Jesus Church opened the meeting and the worship team then led a time of songs and adoration.
Pastor Ergest Biti, President of the Albanian Evangelical Alliance, prayed for the Albanian nation, government and the church. Then, Pastor Sabri Kasemi (pictured above, right, pastor of New Life Churches Albania and Coordinator of Tirana Churches), who has been serving the gospel for 29 years in Albania, preached to the assembled young people, urging them to go and preach the gospel everywhere. ‘It is the time for youth to take responsibility for the Kingdom. It is our heart and desire to see Jesus preached all around Albania’, he said.
The Albanian Evangelical Alliance asked everyone there to ‘pray for a breakthrough and revival in Albania’.
