A group of evangelical and Reformed Protestant Christians who seek to share the gospel with Persian-speaking people around the world have issued a 12-point prayer plan to use for Iran at the moment.
Parsa, which ministers to Iranians, suggests the following:
- Pray for restraint of violence, that upheaval does not descend into bloodshed, revenge, or civil disorder.
- Pray for true spiritual awakening, not merely political freedom. A new government will not save lost souls.
- Pray for the demolition of false religion and entrenched unbelief, that Islamic strongholds and secular rebellion alike would crumble before the truth of Christ.
- Pray for protection and perseverance of believers, especially converts who may face danger from multiple skies.
- Pray for wise and courageous local shepherds, men of conviction, humility, and doctrinal clarity.
- Pray for the rapid raising up and training of faithful elders, so the church is not left immature or driven by personalities.
- Pray for discernment against false gospels, whether prosperity teaching, emotionalism, nationalism, or liberal theology.
- Pray for strength in the unseen war on souls, that Satan's schemes, fear, deception and division would be exposed and defeated.
- Pray that new freedoms would be used for gospel proclamation, not wasted on worldliness or distraction.
- Pray that Christ would be openly confessed as Lord, and that many Iranians would bow the knee in repentance and faith.
- Pray for the breaking of Satan's chains from the hearts of the lost, that blindness, deception and love for the world's pleasures would be shattered by the light of Christ.
- Pray that people would seek the hope and freedom found only in the gospel, not placing their trust in political reform, national identity, or temporary liberty, but in Christ alone.
The prayer points have also been posted on social media platform X in the form of a handy card which can be shared online.
Meanwhile, Elisha, a worker with Jews for Jesus in Israel, has posted an urgent prayer update on X focusing on Joshua 1v9. And another Jews for Jesus video from Israel setting out prayer points has also been uploaded here.
Christians for Israel International says on its website: "Once again, Israel finds itself under threat, and we ask you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for the protection of its people, and for wisdom for its leaders as they navigate this dangerous moment.
"We also ask you to pray for the people of Iran—millions who have no say in the decisions of their rulers and who now face the consequences of their regime’s actions. May they one day be freed from oppression and able to live in peace with their neighbours."
