American pastor, author and educator Voddie Baucham has died at the age of 56.

Writing on Facebook, Voddie Baucham Ministries said: "We are saddened to inform friends that our dear brother, Voddie Baucham, Jr., has left the land of the dying and entered the land of the living.

"Earlier today [25 September], after suffering an emergency medical incident, he entered into his rest and the immediate presence of the Savior [sic] whom he loved, trusted, and served since he was converted as a college student. Please pray for [his wife] Bridget, their children, and grandchildren.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. – Psalm 116:15."

Voddie Tharon Baucham, Jr. (March 11, 1969 – September 25, 2025) was the Founding President of Founders Seminary in Cape Coral, Florida. He served for nine years as Dean of Theology at African Christian University in Lusaka, Zambia.

Evangelicals around the world are reacting on X. The page dedicated to 19th-century preacher J.C. Ryle, writes, of Baucham: "Undoubtedly, one of the greatest preachers of our generation."

Another individual wrote: "When I was first becoming a Christian, it was a sermon by Voddie Baucham on YouTube that explained to me the doctrines of grace in a way that I could understand. It's a moment I'll never forget."

Baucham reportedly described himself as a "fire-breathing, TULIP believing, five-point Calvinist."

The Gospel Coalition, the ministry co-founded by the late Tim Keller, writes: "We are grieved to hear of the death of our friend and gospel partner Voddie Baucham, Jr. (1969-2025), a former TGC Council member and contributor. We are grateful for his faithful life and gospel-proclaiming ministry. His labor was not in vain (1 Cor. 15:58)."

Author and minister Mark Vroegop, said: "So many heavy losses this year. Praying for the Baucham family."

It's fair to say that Baucham's influence reached across the globe. The Christian Institute, sharing a video of Baucham speaking "on his own death," quotes him: “'Though I die, I will rise with Christ.'”
